Alumni Reunion

The Sage School’s annual alumni reunion will be held on Tuesday, November 22. This reunion is a chance for alumni to reconnect with their classmates, former teachers, and current eighth graders.  We are very much looking forward to welcoming these graduates back to campus and hearing about their current endeavors.

In today’s society, social media makes it very convenient to re-connect with old friends and classmates. You no longer have to wait until a reunion to meet up with long lost friends or to learn what former classmates are up to these days thanks to social media tools like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. In fact, with the dashboard features of many social media platforms, you may know where your former classmates are at any given moment in time as soon as you login to a website. Thanks to these outlets you can re-connect immediately with former classmates rather than waiting for the alumni office to plan another event. Although these split second connections are instantly gratifying, they often lack the depth of personal interactions.

Additionally since social media communication often circumvents the alumni office at Sage (and many other institutions) much of the conversation between alumni often focuses on life after Sage and neglects to draw attention to the Sage Experience. At the reunion, alumni will be able to engage in dialogue that is much more intricate than most conversations that take place through social networking sites. They will have the opportunity to reminisce on their Sage experiences and rediscover the core values of the school. We also hope they will consider how they will utilize their inner qualities that Sage nurtured in their current pursuits.

That being said we look forward to welcoming our alumni back to Sage next week or any other time that they would like to rediscover the Sage difference.
