Sage Model UN Club at Northeastern Conference
On Saturday, November 23, Sage Middle School students attended a Model UN Conference at Northeastern University sponsored by the United Nations Association of Greater Boston. Model UN is a simulation of the United Nations in which students assume the roles of United Nations delegates. Sage delegates Kyle Z. and Henry M. won an award for Best Delegation on the United Nations Environmental Programme committee, Sage delegates Shubham G. and Daniel P. won an award for Best Delegration on the United Nations Habitat committee, and Sage delegates August D. and Andrew M. brought home an honorable mention for United Nations Habitat.
Preparing for these conferences involves significant student effort and thinking. Students engage in deep and significant research, critical thinking in analyzing complex world problems, creative thinking in brainstorming the solutions to those problems, skillful writing, revising, and peer editing, and knowledge of debate procedure. At the Northeastern conference, Sage students developed their diplomacy, negotiation, and public speaking skills. Sage students were thoughtful and active contributors to every single committee! Good work, diplomats!
