Students Win National C-SPAN Video Documentary Contest
“Congress and Clean Water” Video Recognized Among Thousands Nationwide
Three Sage seventh graders won honorable mention in C-SPAN’s annual Studentcam video production contest for their video titled “Congress and Clean Water.” The video was chosen among 2,280 submissions from almost 5,000 students from 45 states and Washington D.C., with only 150 videos winning an award overall.

Nataly K., Anisha P., and Sarah V., all students of Sage teacher Anne Cadigan, interviewed Congressman Joseph Kennedy, Maureen McClelland of the US Environmental Protection Agency, and The Sage School’s STEAM Coordinator Dr. Nitzan Resnick to talk about the importance of clean drinking water and the effects it has on our communities if protective measures are not put into place. The video and participation in the contest was borne out of an interdisciplinary project in the students’ humanities and computer science classes.
“Sage is very proud of these young ladies and the results of their research and hard work in putting together this award-winning video,” said Dr. Nan Wodarz, Head of School. “As a school, we are always excited to have our students able to participate in projects such as Studentcam that challenge students and raise awareness of issues as critical as clean drinking water.”
The C-SPAN video documentary contest is an annual competition in which middle and high school students produce a documentary on a specific theme. ”The Three Branches and You” was the 2015 theme, and contestants showed how a policy, law, or action had affected them or their community. This was the highest year of participation in the eleven years of the competition. www.studentcam.org
