Model UN Club's Success at Boston University Academy Conference
This past weekend on February 1 and 2, fifteen Sage students participated in the Boston University Academy’s Model United Nations conference. At the conference, delegates worked with students from other schools in the Northeast to debate, discuss, and think creatively to solve some of the world’s most difficult problems, such as the political instability of Egypt and Somalia, or the working conditions in factories of developing countries. Of the nine committees in the conference, Sage students won the Best Delegate Award in four of those nine committees. These students are:
Best Delegate – Andrew M. and Anay M., Security Council
Best Delegate – Olivia M., United Nations Commission on Human Rights
Best Delegate – Noah P., Joint Crisis
Best Delegate – Kyle Z., Roman Senate Historical Committee
In addition, Sage students won several other awards. August D.’s position paper was selected as the best one on the Roman Senate and Josh B.’s was given an Honorable Mention in the Roman Senate.
Another wonderful aspect of this conference is that it was organized and staffed by a former Sage students and Sage Model UN clubmembers who are currently attending BUA. We are so proud of both our current and former students for their hard work and for their success!
Also congratulations to our faculty members Ms. Cadigan and Ms. Hoffman who supervise the Model UN afterschool club at Sage!
