Seventh Grade Trip to Gettysburg and Washington DC

The seventh grade had a jam packed week planned for our trip to Gettysburg and Washington D.C. Of course, we couldn’t have started it off without a pit stop to Hershey’s Chocolate World in Hershey Park, PA to fuel the rest of our trip. On our first full day in Gettysburg we took a look around the Gettysburg Visitor Center and museum followed by a tour around the battle grounds learning all about the details of the three day long battle between the Union and Confederate.

Upon our arrival to D.C. we headed to the sobering Holocaust Museum, visited Arlington National Cemetery to see JFK’s memorial and watch the changing of the guard, and explored many memorials and monuments around the city. We learned how to be spies at the International Spy Museum, took a tour of the Capitol and Supreme Court, and saw where Lincoln was shot in Fords Theater. We visited quaint Alexandria, VA and had ourselves a fun ghost tour complete with a stop in a centuries old cemetery. Our group even got to spend some time in beautiful Georgetown with our own Mr. Kramer giving us a tour of his old stomping grounds at Georgetown University. We saw the White House and headed into four different Smithsonian Museums including the National Portrait Gallery, the Botanical Gardens and the Air and Space and Natural History Museums. We ended our stay with a beautiful night cruise down the Potomac River.

All in all a very busy and extremely interesting visit!
