Sage Students are Active Volunteers
In addition to the various community service projects at Sage, many of our students are active volunteers in their local communities:
Andrew, Fifth Grade:
On May 20, Andrew participated in the Dover-Sherborn PMC Challenge for Kids which raised money for Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund. Andrew also volunteers as a dishwasher and server at Abundant Table, a volunteer-run, organization serving weekly free meals to individuals and families in need residing in the Greater Boston suburbs. In addition, Andrew has spent his last two spring breaks at Natick Montessori Preschool leading activities including reading books and teaching Japanese letters.
Anastasia, Eighth Grade:
In the fall of 2011, Anastasia began volunteering at the Jamaica Plain branch of the Boston Public library. For 2-3 hours every week, Anastasia helps the staff with book returns, organizes the magazine and reference collections, and assists the head librarian in the after school program for children. The program caters to the local elementary school children and is designed to introduce/reinforce reading in a fun and engaging way through story and craft.
