Concentrating in preparation for MathCounts
On Saturday, February 12, ten middle school students –The Sage Team members: Zachary P., Bary L., Harris D., and Benjamin P., along with individual members: Aaron H., Doogie D., Kayla C., Jack M., Owen G., and Philip L. – represented The Sage School at the MetroWest Chapter MathCounts competition held at The Meadowbrook School of Weston.

Approximately 175 students from twenty-one middle schools participated in the four rounds. The Sage School’s team did a spectacular job, finishing in First Place and advancing to the state competition in Boston on March 5. The four members of this team – Bary L., Zachary P., Harris D. and Benjamin P. were also among the top 12 students to compete in the infamous final CountDown Round.

In addition to the Sage team members, three other students – Aaron H., Philip L., and Kayla C. will also advance to the state level as individuals. Middle School math teacher, Dr. Lydie Labaudinière says, “Only six students who were not members of a team were allowed to move on to the state competition. It is nice to see that half of them are from Sage.”

“Congratulations to all ten participants on their remarkable accomplishment, says Dr. Labaudinière. “It has been a long and beautiful journey to this point. We now have three weeks to get ready for the very challenging state competition in Boston.”
