Keys to the Google Kingdom

This past summer our school went Google. More specifically, we became a part of Google Apps for Education and brought a whole suite of apps, from Gmail to Docs, in house– while still keeping them out of house. Way out of house. Up in the cloud.

This has opened all sorts of doors.

Collaboration between faculty members and their students, as well as their colleagues, has never been easier, more secure, or as powerful than it is now. And the services just keep growing and getting better. In the last month, Picasa, Reader, Blogger (powering this post right now) and a whole host of new apps were added to those offered to Apps Educational users.

And did I mention it’s completely free to schools and non-profits?

Over the next few months, I’ll be documenting my adventures with technology of all kinds, including our transition to Google Apps. I’ll try and be as honest and transparent about my experiences as possible. Hopefully, you all find something useful in these posts and, if possible, share some of your own discoveries.

Thanks for stopping by.  🙂
